My personal favorite hacks so far are the "pool noodle as makeshift bed rail" and "Sharpie your cell number on your kid before you go to crowded places." Good stuff.

I like the idea of the sharpie on the belly.
When traveling overseas, we have made laminated cards for the kids. The cards have our information, our hotel, as well as phone numbers back in the states. We did this because we don't take our cell phones overseas. Traditionally, we make a bunch of them and each has a nifty little picture, so the kid is proud to have the card. Copies are placed in shoes, pants, etc.
Fortunately, we have not needed to use any of the cards.
